N&O Jailed to Death series

Posted

The News & Observer began a five-part investigative series, Jailed to Death, that exposes dozens of deaths in which North Carolina jails failed state supervision requirements for the safety and security of inmates. The N&O has posted all the reports it obtained from the state agency that investigated these deaths at this county-by-county link. Members across the state can now easily access these reports and learn how many inmates died in their readership areas over the past five years, and how many of those deaths had supervision problems. If you do a story off the documents, the N&O would appreciate being credited, and a link to the series would be appreciated. N&O Reporter Dan Kane can help with any questions you have about the series or the documents. His contact information is dkane@newsobserver.com or 919-829-4861.
