StarNews newspaper moves operations to downtown Wilmington because of Florence damage

The StarNews was displaced in the wake of Hurricane Florence and is temporarily moving downtown. Its newspaper office has been at the same location for almost 50 years. 

The StarNews has been the state's continuously longest-run newspaper. It doggedly continued its reporting amid the hurricane, but eporters had to find temporary spaces at friends' homes, other newsrooms and other places with WiFi. The advertising department moved into the first floor last week and the newsroom and other departments moved into the new building Monday. 

This is not the first time the paper has worked from downtown. It operated out of another building in the 1930s until 1970. Now, it looks forward to having an office to work in, though it is unknown where they will permanently reside.
