Thanks to UNC’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication, the North Carolina Press Foundation is offering ten profiles on notable North Carolinians for North Carolina newspapers to publish at will. The profiles recognize contributions made to the state and celebrate young writers. Students taking John Robinson’s feature writing class wrote the 2014 profiles on Eben Alexander, Jim Avett, Jim Beatty, Joey Cheek, Anson Dorrance, Charles Hadley, Franklin McCain, Jonathan Reckford, Tom Ross and Bellamy Young. Past profiles came from students in Dean Emeritus Richard Cole’s feature writing classes and remain available below. For
